Game Ideas

"They Call Me The Cleaner"

You are a shady character recently hired by the mob as a hired gun/assassin. You anticipate a career filled with danger, death and good pay. Instead, all you do is receive calls at 3am from the boss' bratty nephew asking for favours, or find badly-written threatening notes slipped under your apartment door from the guy who had your job before you. This job sucks...

Throughout the game, you complete a wide variety of tasks, errands and favours for the mob - but you never get to use the cool gun mounted prominently on your wall. You are woken up at all kinds of ungodly hours of the morning to go do some seemingly ridiculous task, like cleaning up a crime scene before investigators are let loose on the scene, picking up some Chinese takeaway for the boys, or taking the boss' dog for a walk while he's out of town (yes - in the middle of the night).

The focus of the game is to put an absurd comedic spin on the premise of being involved in the shady underworld of the mob, and to present the player with unexpected situations and goals - things that you wouldn't expect a grizzled assassin to be doing.

There is a purposefully distinct lack of action throughout the game, instead comprising of casual and sometimes even relaxing gameplay. There isn't really any competitive aspect to the game either; no high scores, best times or permanent deaths. As such, this should appeal most to casual audiences, especially anyone looking for something a little comedic. I think this idea would be successful as it subverts player expectations from the start, slowly escalating in absurdity the whole way through and hooking them in with unorthodox situations and odd character interactions.

"Unlogistics"

You are overseeing an interplanetary logistics operation, transporting all kinds of essential cargo across space. You are also impersonating the CEO on behalf of a rival company, and are tasked with performing acts of corporate espionage to ruin the competition. These acts mostly include making sure that things go wrong by: sending cargo to the wrong locations, purposely exposing ships to danger, placing obstacles in the way of shipping routes, etc. Various employees of the company start to question your actions, and the stakeholders are becoming furious - more opportunities to screw things up! Insult your employees, ignore their advice, release damaging statements to the media and fuel the rumours surrounding the future of the company. Make sure things are going as unsmoothly as possible.

The game comprises of a series of levels where the player has an overhead view of the surface of some distant planet. At the start of each level, the various shipping lanes are operational and moving things to their appropriate destinations without delay - this simply won't do and cannot be allowed to continue. You have to use whatever tools are at your disposal to disrupt these shipping routes, ensuring that as little cargo reaches its intended destination as possible. Then in between these levels, you will have some interaction with a concerned employee or slimeball reporter - make sure that you give the worst possible answers to their questions and treat them as rudely as possible.

The levels of the game are puzzles, with new ways of interrupting shipping routes being introduced as the game progresses. This should suit fans of casual/puzzle games, and with the comedic setup of trying to ruin things as much as possible, players will enjoy being rewarded for being a pain in the ass for a change.
